Curriculum Intent statement

Our purpose and objective in the Performing Arts Department is to nurture passionate, imaginative and inquisitive individuals, who see the world from an artistic perspective, enjoying and exploring past and present art forms generated from an array of different cultures. The Performing Arts curriculum prepares students to become independent and creative individuals. A range of topics allow students to develop an understanding and appreciation of the arts formed in a contemporary society and throughout the world. These themes are explored through a range of different creative styles, practitioners and mediums. Furthermore, the Performing Arts curriculum promotes a sense of self-worth, encourages confidence, resilience and develops relationships. This subject promotes an overall appreciation of the arts both inside and outside of the classroom developing discipline, control and focus allowing them to grow into well rounded adults. Students are introduced to a range of opportunities to develop their expertise through performances, concerts and events within the local community allowing them to develop their professionalism within the Performing Arts sector.

In line with the school's Mission, the Performing Art’s Department aims to promote the development of all its students so that they are able to achieve their full potential academically, spiritually and socially.

The Performing Arts Department at St Anselm’s prides itself on the professionalism and dedication of its staff. We aim to enrich and enthuse each pupil who walks in through our door so that they have not only learnt something new, but so that they leave us feeling that their talents have been nurtured, stretched and challenged resulting in confident young people who thrive in the Arts.

The department is also proud to offer it's own kit.  Performing Arts Kit is available for both KS3 and KS4 students.  At KS3 the Performing Arts kit is optional.  At KS4 it is compulsory for students who have selected BTEC Performing Arts to wear the appropriate kit.  The Performing Arts kit is available here.
