OUR COURSES

We are proud to offer a varied programme of A Level and Level 3 BTEC qualifications which can lead to a wide range of university and career pathways.

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Our Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs at Grade 4 and above in addition to individual subject entry requirements.  The course information below gives specific details of course content and entry requirements.
Students wishing to follow a fully BTEC/vocational pathway may be accepted with 3-4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, however, this will be considered on an individual basis. (In addition to academic requirements stated above a place will be dependent on the receipt of a satisfactory school reference.)

 Advanced Levels (A Levels)
Students will select three A Level courses to study across Years 12 and 13.  A Levels are graded A-E and carry UCAS points for university admissions.  If a student is considering applying to a Russell Group university of medicine, law or dentistry; we recommend that they consider taking a fourth subject, although this option will only be suitable for students that have gained at least six GCSEs at Grade 6 or above.

BTEC Level 3 Diplomas
BTEC Level 3 diplomas have parity with A Levels.  They are graded at pass, merit and distinction and carry UCAS points for university admission.  The difference between A Levels and BTEC courses is that BTEC courses are more vocational and they combine a greater percentage of coursework with public examinations. A single award BTEC is the equivalent of one A Level, whereas the double and triple options are the equivalents of two and three A Levels respectively.

GCSE English Language & Mathematics
It is a requirement that any student who does not have GCSE English Language or Mathematics at Grade 4 will continue to study for this qualification whilst in the Sixth Form.  Students will attend timetabled classes for these subjects.  Please note that it is not possible to select certain subjects of A Level without GCSE English Language and/or Mathematics.
